Republican Report for April 2016

Our annual Lincoln Day was one for the history books and was very well attended by both new and long-time Republicans. The event was featured in at least two national publications, two international reporters were at the event, multiple television stations were on hand, and even our local papers gave us a few good plugs. The event showcased presidential candidates and their surrogates, state senators, our Lt. Governor, several congressional candidates, gubernatorial candidates, leaders from the RNC and the RPOF, and more…and yes, we made a few dollars. Details to follow.

We thank Lincoln Day Dinner Chair Susan Gingerich, Vice Chairs Heather Moraitis and Teresa Sutton, and the 20+ volunteers who worked with us to keep our Republic alive and ensuring that Broward is a notable foe in the battle between freedom and dependency.

The BREC Board would like to thank Former Chairman Richard DeNapoli for taking the time to do a precinct training. The Board would also like to thank all those who attended. Returning a Republican to the White House will be won one vote, one block, and one street at a time.

Your Board is working with Southwest Republican Club President Jay Narang to bring our communications and website into the current century. Stay tuned.

In addition, your Board and other Republicans are being asked to speak and make appearances in our local high schools, colleges, and on local television shows. Broward College is hosting a political forum on April 14th and we will be on hand, ready to proudly represent the GOP.

By the numbers: In November 2015 there were 237,091 registered Republicans in Broward. As of this posting there are 246,459. This is a 3.95% increase.

In other news:

We have 577 Precincts in Broward County. We need 2 people to split shifts at EVERY Precinct on election day (for a total of 1154 people). We could really use an additional 1154 people to split the “outside shift”, which includes tasks such as sign placement and palm card passing. This would effectively bump the total number of volunteers to 2308.

That will only cover the actual election day. We also have EARLY Voting which will require 4 people per day, per early voting site. Hopefully, some of the 2308 people we find will also cover the early voting sites.

December Republican Report

As another year winds down we can reflect on what we accomplished and the changes that we have been through.  On a positive note, BREC’s last few meetings have shown that BREC is significant and is taking center stage in the State of Florida.

Our last meeting was filled with excitement as our Lt. Governor was the key note speaker and Presidential candidates had their people in place showing that they know that we will elect the next president of the United States.  The meeting prior to the last, BREC members heard Sharon Day, the Co-Chair of the RNC, give an update.  And last but certainly not least, your current board’s first meeting featured Blaise Ingoglia, the chair of the Florida Republican Party.

Your Board is working on a one year plan to ensure that the next President of the United States is a Republican.  It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that we look forward to the new year and that we remain Republican Strong and each of us make it our mission to elect Republicans and work as one Republican Strong entity.

Volunteers are needed to assist Mark O’Loughlin and Chris Ziadie with their campaigns.   We need to ensure that these two Republicans and BREC members win their March election.  They will need campaign contributions, phone callers, and walkers.

In addition, BREC is looking for volunteers to assist with data entry, procuring vendors, meeting sponsors and running the Hollywood club.  Please contact Chairman Sutton or Vice Chair Ellich for details.

Please test the magic of the donate button on your BREC website.  Everyone who donates $10.00 or more will receive a special limited edition T-Shirt with an elephant graphic from the Sunshine State Logo on the front of the shirt.  “It’s a new day in Broward and the Elephant is rising!”

Finally, the next BREC meeting will be held on January 25th at Deicke.  Your Board would like to thank you for your support and wish you and your family, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and may you and your family be blessed in the new year.   May all of us be blessed with a Republican president in 2016

Robert W. Sutton
