Pompano Beach - Broward County Republican Party Chairman Chip LaMarca today announced that the Broward County Republican Executive Committee Board has endorsed Sharon Day for Chair of the Republican Party of Florida.

In making the announcement, LaMarca said: “Our Board is proud to endorse our own Sharon Day for Chair of the Republican Party of Florida.  Sharon is not only our State and National Committeewoman, but her talents and abilities have been recognized by her colleagues around the nation, who chose to elect her as the Secretary of the Republican National Committee.

She has given the Republican Party of Florida countless hours for almost a decade, campaigning for Governor Crist in 2006 and all Republican candidates up and down the ballot.   Last cycle, Sharon spearheaded Florida Women for McCain in 2008 where she showed her ability to organize grass root supporters by building a statewide network over nearly 12,000 women.  I am honored to serve with Sharon in Broward County and look forward to promoting her to service in Tallahassee.”

LaMarca was joined in the endorsement by Broward State Committeeman and former Broward Commissioner Edward Kennedy who said, “At this time, we have two outstanding candidates, but in the next ten months bottom-up precinct organization is absolutely necessary for success.  I am and have always been a local government and precinct organization advocate, and I believe that Sharon Day has the executive abilities, precinct organization experience and grass roots knowledge to lead us to success in November.  I wholeheartedly support Sharon Day in her campaign to be the next RPOF Chairman. ”

Colleen Stolberg, former President of the East Broward Federated Women’s Republican Club, former GOP Membership Chair and Broward Republican of the Year 2006, said: “Sharon is one of the most hardworking, dedicated and committed Republicans I know.  I have seen her putting up signs for Crist, McCain and other candidates at 4:00 in the morning. On Election Day last year, she picked up and took over 3,000 absentee ballots to the Supervisor of Elections Office and made sure they were counted. She is one of the strongest leaders that I know .She is just what we need to unite the Republican Party of Florida.”

Joining in praise for Day and the endorsement was Clarence V. McKee, Esq., Media and Communication Chair for the Broward GOP: “Sharon is truly committed to diversity, inclusion and broadening the base of our Party.  I know firsthand that she doesn’t just ‘talk the talk’, she ‘walks the walk’ on this most important issue.  She was the person who recruited me to ‘get involved’ when I first came to Broward.”

Concluded LaMarca, “We wish Sharon the best of luck in the race and know that she will work hard until the very last minute of the campaign.”
